Fall is a great time of year for those crafters who enjoy collecting and using dried seed pods in their handmade holiday decorations. Here in the Big Bend area of Florida, we are lucky to have the lovely Magnolia tree. The seed pods of the Magnolia start to dry and fall from the tree in late summer and early fall. Collect these interesting seed pods to use in holiday centerpieces or door wreaths. The Magnolia seed itself is a beautiful red. If you can beat the critters to these seeds, just shake them out of the pod and let them dry. String the seeds for use in garlands for a little touch of red.
